Alpha Protocol Pre-Order Bonuses Detailed

8
Back when Alpha Protocol was due in 2009, retailer GameCrazy was offering an "Exclusive Stealth Pack" to those that pre-ordered the stealth-action RPG on consoles.

Since then, Alpha Protocol has been delayed--it's now due on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 come June 1, 2010--and GameCrazy owner Movie Gallery, Inc. has declared bankruptcy and closed numerous stores.

Now, publisher SEGA and developer Obsidian have confirmed that those who pre-order the game from retailer Best Buy will net an exclusive "Stealth Weapons Pack" that includes the two weapons previously offered to GameCrazy pre-orders:

When players pre-order Alpha Protocol at Best Buy they will guarantee that their copy will have the code to download the exclusive "Stealth Weapons Pack." This pack contains the Hamilton Marksman High-Accuracy Pistol, the Samael Typhoon High Recoil Control SMG and a bonus arsenal of ammo and mines, all designed to make every agent's mission that much more fun – and deadly for anyone that gets in their way.

In addition, GameStop is still offering pre-orders its "Exclusive Assault Pack," which includes the UC Regulator high damage shotgun and upgrade kit, Rittergroupen Grizzly high accuracy rifle and upgrade kit, 30 Rounds Phosphorous Ammo, 100 sub sonic rounds, 20 explosive grenades, 10 epinephrine spikes, and the like.

Thus far, the above pre-order bonuses appear to be limited to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 editions. Meanwhile, outlets like Steam and GameStop are offering a free copy of Gas Powered Games' Space Siege PC with a pre-order of Alpha Protocol PC .

      Yes.

Was a bit let down by ME2's RPG-Lite mechanics, so hopefully this game will fill that RPG-shaped void :)

Plus I'm a sucker for anything Chris Avellone (Fallout 2, Planescape Torment, KOTOR 2, etc.)

As far as I know, this game should not be lite on the RPG element like ME2. Although from graphical and animation wise, it MIGHT be lacking, the RPG element should have more depth (from what I heard and read) compared to ME2.

I cant wait for this game to come out too, but I would actually wait this one out and see the reviews. The game should have came out last year. The delay that long with not much improvement (despite the reason that they are giving) is a bit suspicious.

I'm with you on games created by Chris Avellone and most of Fallout 2 and KOTOR 2's teams too. I just hope that they havent lost their touch. Was a bit let down by Vampires: Bloodlines, even though thats Troika (some of them were Fallout 2's team members).

the issue im having is the graphical style that looks cheesy and over the top while the tone of the story seems to be more grounded and serious. It's like asking you to watch a sunday morning cartoon that has a deep complex story. so im keeping my eye out for the reviews because of the pedigree but right now its just not clicking for me

I think you're on to something with that. Some of the character trailers showed a really serious and gritty character from a serious game. Some of the trailers had larger than life characters which would have been out of place in the others.

I'm excited about this game, but judging by the lack of interest on the Internet I am going to guess that it won't sell well. It's too bad because you can clearly see that Obsidian understands how to develop a theme by looking at their past titles and trailer for this game.

I'll definitely buy it at launch...but I'm not going through the effort to buy it in a store. I assume Steam will have it.

I'll definitely be picking it up... I'm looking for something with a little bit more RPG (and story) than ME2 had, and Alpha Protocol seems like it will fit the bill.

I just hope it's not too buggy... Obsidian does not have a great track record on that front, but they have gotten a number of months to polish it.
