Split/Second Demo Explodes Onto Xbox 360 Now, PlayStation 3 Later

By Alice O'Connor, Apr 26, 2010 6:20am PDT A downloadable demo for Black Rock's action-packed racer Split/Second has burst onto the Xbox Live Marketplace, primed to 'splode.

The 808MB demo contains the 'Airport Terminal' track--host to such joys as crashing a cargo plane onto the course--and is currently available only to Live Gold subscribers. The demo will crash onto the PlayStation Network on May 11 but sadly there's no word of it hitting PC.

Published by Disney Interactive, Split/Second is due to hit PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on May 18. PC and PS3 players who can't wait can enjoy the latest developer diary, which explains more about charging 'Power Plays' to trigger wonderful destruction.

  • Poor man's Burnout.

    - You can only take down dudes o using the special environment powers, that you can only get by drifting or jumping.

I'm not sure what they were going for. The game is too slow to be Burnout, since there's no Boost. You get powers way too slow for it to be akin to Wipeout. You cant take down dudes by crashing into them. There are no weapon powerups.

There are better arcade vehicular car games out there.

Even BLUR has more thing going for it than this game (Real cars, customisation, powerups... XP bars).
