Left 4 Dead 2 'The Passing' Achievements Tease New 'Cache Grab' Mode, 'Mutations'

Left 4 Dead 2 developer Valve Software has revealed the achievements due to be added to the zombie apocalypse shooter by its upcoming downloadable content 'The Passing,' which neatly teases some of the multiple new game modes that it'll deliver.

One achievement involves "Cache Grab," which Valve describes as involving new foot lockers, while another is awarded for playing 6 mysterious "Mutations." Valve offers no explantation of what Mutations are, instead promising to reveal them tomorrow.

Valve also confirms that "one of the original Left 4 Dead Survivors is off shooting zombies in Heaven"--a tragedy that we'll likely see unfold in the new Left 4 Dead DLC that was tentatively scheduled for release a month or so after The Passing.

The Passing will be released this week for PC and Xbox 360, costing $7 (560 Microsoft Points) on 360. Until then, enjoy this list of new achievements.

I wish there were news about the Steam client for Mac. Would like to play this new DLC on my Macbook without bootcamp.

Anyway, new gamemodes are great, and the wedding is a nice idea. I wonder if the amount zombies got cranked up for the screenshots only, or if we see more on the screen as well. Since in the screenshots it looks like there are more than there are usually.

I would suspect that they want their mac-native clients of the major games (at least TF2 and L4D1/2) ready at beta launch, otherwise there's little point to having the client.

Yeah, I noticed a larger number of zombies on the screen as well. I wouldn't be surprised if they're pushing the boundaries... Also, the shadows look a bit different. Well, in my opinion. Wouldn't it be neat if they had realistically simulated lighting.

I think the shadows are not like they will appear in game. But I'm hoping for more zombies.

        You can't have enough zombies.
