Evening Reading: FPS Fever!
by Brian Leahy, Apr 14, 2010 5:00pm PDTThis morning, Take-Two announced that 2K Marin is developing an FPS game based upon X-COM. The outrage was palpable.
I'm willing to give 2K Marin a chance here. I'm sure this is a move meant to echo Bethesda's work with the Fallout franchise, which led to the creation of Fallout 3.
Personally, I'm a much bigger fan of Todd Howard and Bethesda's work than 2K Marin's, but we'll see what the studio can cook up.

I will never forget getting stuck on a certain puzzle (if you've played space quest ... remember that laser fence on the desert planet?) and I mean, we were STUCK. There was no internet, gamefaqs etc, so we just wandered around that god damn planet going WTF for days.
One night I was sent to bed (I was between 6 and 8 years old, of course I had a bed time!) and I was just laying there, wishing I was still downstairs trying to figure out this puzzle, and I heard my dad YELL out - to this day it might be the strongest showing of emotion I've ever witnessed out of my dad, haha. I shot straight up out of bed and flew down the stairs because I *knew* exactly what had happened - he'd finally figured it out. He reloaded a saved game and showed me how he figured it out .. then I had to go back to bed ;( I laid in bed for hours just trying to imagine what came next in the game.
Yeah .. if I could live that again, sign me up.
