Later in your life when you reflect back about your favorite video games and of the hundreds you played only a few will snap immediately to mind, you will easily remember Heavy Rain. Quantic Dream has shown us the only real way to bring a story to someone on the other side of the TV and reach out to them and get them involved. Much like a classic novel to students, Heavy Rain should be required playing for all gamers, and should be used to represent the medium, (gaming), to non-gamers.
My wife sat with me for the last 25% of the game and within 10 minutes of watching she was sucked in too.
If you have a PS3 go buy this game. If you don't, obtain one somehow for a few days and play this game.

Perhaps I am in the minority, but for me this boils down to being little more than an interactive movie - the gameplay sequences are shallow and frustrating enough to make me wish that those buttom prompt sequences were replaced with a series of important choices rather than knee jerk twitch reactions which have always annoyed the hell out of me. It's like they took what for me constitutes the single most annoying gameplay mechanic and build an entire game around it.
That being said, all would be forgiven if the story / voice acting were top notch, but in my opinion they simply are not. Uncharted 2 soars high above Heavy Rain in terms of presentation, voice acting, and story (imo), perhaps lacking in atmosphere, BUT at least the gameplay wasn't abysmal / non existant.
When I play agmes, I want interaction through interesting and at least slightly deep gameplay. When I want to sacrifice all that, the story better be damn good - but then again, I might as well as just rent a good movie if that's what I want.
