More Call of Duty Veterans Quit Infinity Ward
by Alice O'Connor, Apr 13, 2010 6:10am PDTModern Warfare 2 lead designer Mackey McCandlish and veteran Call of Duty series programmer Jon Shiring have left developer Infinity Ward, Edge reports, a mere week after another two high-ranking developers quit the Activision-owned studio.
"After almost 6 years at Infinity Ward, I resigned today," wrote Shiring on Twitter. "I'm incredibly proud of everything we accomplished and I'm going to miss everyone." Shiring joined Infinity Ward during Call of Duty 2 while McCandlish was there from Call of Duty.
Their departures came to light on the day that fired Infinity Ward co-founders Vince Zampella and Jason West announced the founding of their new development studio Respawn Entertainment, which has signed an exclusive publishing deal with Activision's rival Electronic Arts through its EA Partners scheme. However, there's no indication yet of McCandlish or Shiring joining Respawn, or the events being connected.

I can just see it now
"Well gosh they are only leaving since their game wasnt good enough for the godlike awesomeness that is the pc and so it got pirated and so they they can JUST TO HELL"
or even
"FUCK YOU CALL OF DOODY LOLOL"
The last time a PC gamer has stood up for or even sympathized with a developer was.. oh wait, it never happened. Inspite of the all the issues with dedicated servers and IW/.net (is it just me or does MW2 pick the worst person to host), I have loved every Call of Duty game, especially Modern warefare 2. It's sad to see them go like this. Best of luck to them at Respawn.
