Following yesterday's official announcement of F.E.A.R. 3, publisher Warner Bros. has let a live-action trailer loose upon the world to reveal the horror shooter sequel's story.

F.E.A.R. 3 is developed by Day 1 Studios--previously responsible for F.E.A.R.'s console editions--rather than series creator Monolith, with horror director John Carpenter and 30 Days of Night writer Steve Niles pitching in on the cinematics and script, respectively.

"Divergent co-op, an evolved cover system, and more scares" are promised when F.E.A.R. 3 is released on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this fall.

I saw like 10 seconds of game play you saw all that? Fear 2 you could flip tables over that was a "cover system" I guess...

I'll still play it tho doesn't seem as bad as everyone who just seen 10 seconds of game footage.

Damn the creators not being able to find people that look like characters they created. To think Warner Brothers can't find that.... please.

"evolved cover system". So it's something beyond just being able to flip over patio tables and giant potted plants in office buildings. I'm cynically guessing that they're going to go for something like what's in Gears of War, Rogue Warrior, or Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood.

If you look at the whole FEAR franchise, they've included a number of gameplay gimmicks, ever-increasing. FEAR 1 had bullet time. FEAR 2 added quick-time events. And now FEAR 3 is adding a cover system. Since the series has always had special melee attacks, why don't they just throw in combo chains for good measure? And then they can implement 100% regenerating health, and force you to only be able to carry 2 weapons, only switchable with a single relative "next weapon" key bind instead of discrete selection keys?

And then the storyline is going to be something entirely Hollywood-style storyline (Steve Niles of "30 Days of Night" is writing the storyline), and there's almost certainly going to be some sort of stupid cliffhanger so they can go make FE4R.
