Crysis 2 Trailers Showcase Story, Tech

Developer Crytek and publisher Electronic Arts have issued forth a deluge of new assets from Crysis 2, including new screenshots, some concept art, and two new trailers.

With a story penned by Altered Carbon and Broken Angels novelist Richard Morgan, the sci-fi shooter sequel is slated to hit PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 between October 1 and December 31, 2010.

I hope this one uses that new shader technology that all the hip new games are using (Just Cause 2, Wolfenstein, Mass Effect 2, Metro 2033) -- you know, that one where the game looks incredible but actually has playable framerates, and doesn't take up 16Gb on the HDD.

I have to be honest I was kind of expecting it to look better. A new crysis game is supposed to look 10x better than anything and be impossible to run on any available machine until 2-3 years after it's release. Right? This looks like it's pushing the hardware, but not irresponsibly :)

Also i loved crysis and i think that warhead was utter shit, hopefully more unique non linear gameplay(and more levels with aliens :D) from this one.

Not liking this. Looks like they're continuing the linear style gameplay they adapted in Warhead, vs the more open ended approach they used in Crysis and Far Cry 1. Not really a fan of the urban environment either. :(

This is too bad because I love the first Crysis to death and still boot it up once in a while to go through various missions in different ways.
