The first trailer for Resident Evil: Afterlife, the next film inspired by the game series, has popped up on YouTube, offering a glimpse of the three-dimensional Paul W.S. Anderson-helmed terror that awaits theatergoers on September 10.

The trailer accompanies the recent stills put out by game maker Capcom, which showcase film series protagonist Alice (Milla Jovovich) plus Claire Redfield (Ali Larter), Chris Redfield (Wentworth Miller), Albert Wesker (Shawn Roberts) and "The Axeman."

Sweet. I know a lot of people don't like them, but I love these movies.

I liked the first and third, but the second--other than Nemesis, who looked cool--did nothing for me.

I think they have been reasonably entertaining. They could definitely be a lot worse. They are several levels above the best of Uwe's Boll's crap. But this one looks a bit too Matrix-y for my taste. I think I like the gritty more 'realistic' approach of the first one.

The more surreal, Matrix-esque approach of this movie is very much inspired by RE5. Have you played it? "Axeman" and the blooming flower-like organic matter that sprouted from the zombie's mouth are pulled directly from that game, as is the slow-mo and Matrix choreography.

Nope, I haven't played that one yet so I guess I missed the reference. The last RE game I truly enjoyed was Code Veronica on the Dreamcast. I do plan on getting RE5 at some point to play through co-op with a buddy... but I still have a few other games to finish first.

I love Resident Evil 5, definatly play through co-op though. I played through with my girlfriend a few times over (To unlock weapons etc). Probably one of the best co-op experiences I've had.

Agreed. The wife and I played through multiple times to unlock infinite ammo for weapons and so forth. I initially played by myself, thinking she wouldn't want to join in, and hated the experience. It's definitely meant for co-op -- which is a shame in a way, since I do prefer a solitary experience in an RE game. But oh well.

I also happen to like them. Decent acting, good effects and plenty of zombies to kill...

I'll watch anything with Milla running around in a skin-tight outfit. It's a guilty pleasure.
