Xbox 360 Blur Beta Will Open to All; No PC or PS3 Beta

Speaking on Kotaku's podcast, Bizarre Creations' lead designer Gareth Wilson revealed that the currently-underway Xbox 360 multiplayer beta for the studio's power-up racing game Blur will soon be opening up to everyone on Xbox Live.

Access to the beta was limited by codes that were released, but Bizarre hopes to have the beta available for all to download directly by April 6th.

As far as public beta test on PC or PlayStation 3, it won't be happening.

"We only needed it on one platform because all we wanted to do was gather data about how people are using the cars, the power ups, the tracks, and to be honest we can get that data from one platform," Wilson explained on the podcast.

Additionally, running the beta on more than one platform would require more development time. The Xbox 360 was chosen over the PlayStation 3 for the beta because "[the Xbox 360 is] the platform that, to be straight, has more online users than the PS3."

Following the conclusion of the beta test, Blur will race out to retailers on May 25 (North America) and May 28 (Europe) in Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC form.

I had a lot of fun with this for a few days. Long-term I don't know if it would hold my interest, as the tracks were a little straightforward and the strategy pretty obvious.
