Final Fantasy 14 Video Shows "Life in Eorzea"

Okay, so it's entirely in Japanese and I don't understand anything that's going on in this video, but it's over two minutes of in-game footage from Square Enix's upcoming MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV.

Final Fantasy XIV, helmed by the producer of the franchise's other MMORPG (Final Fantasy XI), is currently slated for a 2010 release and open beta sign-ups are ongoing. The title is currently confirmed for release on PC and PlayStation 3.

Looks like FFXI...I think I'll wait for SWTOR before I betray my oath to never play a MMORPG again.(after forcing myself to quit FFXI years ago)

They didn't say anything important by the way, it was mostly just saying how they liked what they were seeing...

I never thought about it this way... but I wonder if part of the reason FF 13 was so linear was to distinguish it a bit from FF 14 which looks to be extremely open and non-linear?

A couple notes:
-At one point there do they all yell in unison "Oh Chocobo!!"? Sounded pretty funny to me
-I'm pretty sure I also heard an "Ohh Pancake!!" cheer as well. But more importantly.. it seems like characters will be able to bake items and make soup in this game. Interesting... haven't done that since Ultima VII I think.

While these sexy graphics look awesome (I absolutely adore the "fantasy western" templated style Final Fantasies), I'm more concerned with whether they keep to their traditional FFXI roots. If this is a WoW clone, do not want. After 2 L60's, 3 L70's and 2 L80's, I can sufficiently say I fucking hate the WoW player base and want nothing to do with it ever again.

I got into the the first wave of Alpha testing for my brother's crazy amount of hours logged with FFXI. HOWEVER, the alpha testing was to start March 9th... it is yet to begin. They keep holding it off for server instability issues.

it says Eorzea, but could that be a typo?

those are humes, galka, tarutaru and elvaan. If I'm not mistaken, FFXI is the only FF game that has Tarutaru and Galka in them.
