Skate 3 Demo Hitting April 15 for PS3 and Xbox 360

By Brian Leahy, Mar 29, 2010 8:00pm PDT Like the two games before it, Skate 3 will be getting a playable demo for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 ahead of its full release. Joystiq spotted cards promising the demo at PAX East 2010.

The skateboarding series from Electronic Arts emphasizes realism over arcade action. Skate 3 will put more of the focus on skating co-operatively, online and offline, as well as make improvements to the game's content creation tools.

Gamers will be able to play Skate 3 in demo form on April 15. The full game will be released on May 11. There are no details on what the demo will contain, but hopefully it will include some amount of multiplayer or skate park creation.

  • I played hall of meat with a friend in Skate 2, since it doesn't have splitscreen. While the premise is great, and great fun overall the spots they chose are ASS. I found 20 better spots in story mode just by skating around. I threw myself off of buildings just to see the animations, but the spots that you can choose are so bad. The only good one is skydive, and that only if you jump to the right because on the left and in the middle there is something in the way that just slows you down and doesn't make for fun collisions at all.
Also a lot of wasted opportunities for that gamemode. Both people jumping at the same time would have been fun. Or a shopping cart, or other things to crash with. But the worst is really the boring spots you have, most of them are just straight down without anything to hit on the way, or the way to get their is way too long so that you need like 10 seconds just to travel to the point where you can jump, often also littered with stuff to hit before you even make your way to the jump, and pedestrians running into your way. Lets not forget the annoying timer that keeps ticking and prevents you from doing anything other than rushing to the spot as fast as you can with no point behind it. Oh and you also need 2 controllers even though only one can play at a time. While no problem for me, its dumb.

Its like they went: "So we don't offer splitscreen, but we have this fun mode that lets people play together. How can we make it unfun and annoying?"

I really hope they do this right this time, because this game, again, doesn't have splitscreen, which was the best about the Tony Hawk games and is just retarded for a skating game.
