Well, a GeForce2 board should be arriving at my door today. I figure I will go over my plan for you guys. I'm gonna benchmark on 3 different CPU speeds at 3 different settings. 450mhz, 750mhz, and 950mhz. I'll be running the V5-5500 and GeForce2 boards along with for comparison sake a GeForce DDR and V3-3500. I've decided to make my own video setting. Prolly call it hardcore or something. Basically replacing 'fastest'. Since anyone running fastest usually tweaks the hell out of other settings anyways. I'm talking dynamic lights, draw3d, lodbias, etc etc. Push that bitch as fast as it can go! Oh btw, Shack Quake3 servers are now here: FFA- shugashack.com:27962 , ClanArena - shugashack.com:27960 , TeamDM (TMP) shugashack.com:27961. The UT / Half-Life server is currently being used as a benchmark box. :)

  • 1984 continued... the proposed new world order: http://www.wired.com/news/politics/0,1283,36047,00.html

    - Make it a crime to create, download, or post on a website any computer program that is "designed or adapted" primarily to gain access to a computer system without permission. Also banned is software designed to interfere with the "functioning of a computer system" by deleting or altering data.
Wee... security by obscurity! Great idea!

    - Allow authorities to order someone to reveal his or her passphrase for an encryption key.
Sure thing brother! Go ahead and assume I'm guilty when I refuse to incriminate myself!

    - Internationalize a U.S. law that makes it a crime to possess even digital images that "appear" to represent children's genitals or children engaged in sexual conduct. Linking to such a site also would be a crime.
Can't argue about this. Childporn is sick. However, pointing out (linking) where *anything* can be found shouldn't be a crime. Just like this (DeCSS): http://www.2600.com/news/1999/1227-help.html

    - Require websites and Internet providers to collect information about their users, a rule that would potentially limit anonymous remailers.
Must... keep... track... of... every... criminal citizen...

  • off topic and all but I have a neat idea...

I presume alot of you here use napster... right?

well how bout we fuck with Dr Dre and Metallica by renaming a bunch of mp3's as follows.........

Dr Dre - Is Good........for me to poop on.mp3
Dr Dre - Download Me and I'll put a cap in yo ass.mp3
    Dr Dre - I am only sue'in you cause I want publicity.mp3
metallica - we are whiney basterds.mp3
    metallica - Enter Selloutica.mp3
metallica - Damn it we should be more like Limp Bizcut.mp3

just an Idea... I know I would stay logged in all day if others wanted to do this and give a big fuck you to them...
see first they take away our music... next the'll wanna take away our porn.

  • after reading the comments, a few more things...i agree that napster can be a very big problem in the future. for one, a lot of people don't bother with it because they have stupid crappy connections (me!). once faster connections come along, more stupid people who abuse it will be abound.
but really, if i get an mp3 and i totally love the band, i will definitely get all their latest stuff. show my support. i also love to attend shows, so i'll be there too, maybe even get a t-shirt or two. but alas, record companies will never see that a large portion of napster users actually do have an honor system of sorts, buying cds because of an mp3 they heard, or just supporting the band by going to their shows. instead, they will only see the fact that they are getting songs for free.

another good point mr. bandguy said (and metallica said too, for that matter) is the fact that there is a lot of poor-quality shit on there. and if i were a band, no matter what, i wouldn't really appreciate low-quality versions of my songs with no information of who/what being passed around.
HOWEVER, in counter to that, with the argument that people go on napster to find what they're looking for, they know what they have. and no doubt they know what kbps/whatever it's at..i sincerely doubt anyone is going to listen to a 26kbps mp3 and assume that that is cd quality.

but really, if a band is in it for the money, well damn it, now they have to be businessmen too. find out where else you can make money. even though it looks like record sales aren't decreasing in the slightest (nsync's 2308484238023 records, santana, whatever). as the for the small bands who are just trying to get by, well, normally you won't find barely anything by them on napster. go buy the cd :) seriously, for the most part, the more popular the band/the more money they make, the more mp3s are available. they'll live.
