Backbreaker Trailer Goes Over the Shoulder

Unlike some other sports titles, NaturalMotion's physics-driven footballer Backbreaker has players controlling the action from an over the shoulder, not overhead, view. Why? Let's turn to the developers themselves, and see what they have to say. Fellas?

Why are brits making an American Football game? I was led to believe they didn't care much for the sport.

because they developed an animation engine that's too good to pass up for a football game

I'd like to see it used in a Soccer (rightfully named Football) game also. EA could sure take hints with these animations.

They are real time hits not animations.

Or maybe that's an over generalization and some of them do?

The way players juke and such doesn't look too natural however. Oh well...

There's actually a rather significant NFL following in the U.K. Madden and NFL 2K series have sold well over there.

Because Americans make the same football game over and over and over again because it sells so well they don't have any incentive to do much more than roster updates.

Because they wouldn't sell many copies if they released a rugby game :)

Put some shoulder pads on the players and paint more lines on the pitch and the Americans will lap it up :D

Seriously, I actually like American Football and would love for this to be on PC. Looking really sweet.
