Following our first glimpse of the title back in September 2009, CD Projekt RED's fantasy RPG follow-up The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings has now received its first official trailer.

In addition, the developer has revealed that it's "aiming for release in Q1 2011, and more info should be out later today!"

The company has previously confirmed that the sequel will arrive on PC, at the time noting "we also want to release the console version." The first Witcher arrived on PC in 2007, with console versions later announced but subsequently placed on hold.

I hope this version gets a console release. I liked the first but it always felt like a console title.

Yes, I'm really hoping this is coming to consoles.

I agree, I played it with a 360 controller on my PC.

For my self personally I am happy its coming to PC and they made a follow up.

Even the directors edition on the PC felt consolish?

I still haven't got this game yet, but have been eyeing it for a long time. I ended up playing Vampires Bloodlines, which despite it's age, is a good game once you get it patched.

haha oh man. Can't stop laughing. A game with isometric camera angle, combat which requires timing instead of button smashing like most console rpgs and has an inventory system which would require some serious tweaking to work as effectively with a controller feels like a console title to you? I am truly speechless...
I guess RTS games feel like console titles to you as well xD

You're not the only one. The Witcher, a straight up cRPG, feels like a console title?

What these guys been smoking? :D

´Hey, I was wondering where all those button-mashing console rpgs live? Surely you mean turn-based jrpgs? No? Ah, then you must be referring to all those classic button-mashers from Bioware and Bethesda? No? Ah, okay, you mean action-rpgs like Dark Alliance. Yeah, you mash buttons a lot in those. Which is of course totally unheard on the pc. hey Diablo, how is it going? Heard you been hooking up with torchlight again...

And what does that have to do with that argument?

You mean apart from the fact that he claims button-masing combat is a distuinguishing feature of most cnsole rpgs, while talking console vs pc rpgs? Yeah, no clue how that fits into the argument...

Damn what happened to logical thinking.

If you used the other camera angle, and played on the highest difficulty I could actually see a controller being better. I tried to hook one up to the game when it first came out, but no luck there :(

I think it could work on consoles but by no means did it feel like a console title. It was a hardcore PC RPG.

As much as I'd love to see these guys get more coverage I hope it doesn't come to the consoles. The PC platform needs more exclusives. And more often than not a game that is cross-platform developed suffers in one form or another.

Haven't played it so I'm not sure if that's in favor or against my argument? Not that it much matters as it wasn't a blanket statement. Good ports can and do exist, but the PC version of ports tend to suffer in one form or another.

See: Halo, God of War, any number of Zelda / Mario / Metroid games, countless JRPGs, and the regular habit of delaying any semblance of a PC port from console for "tweaking" (see: Ubisoft and the shit-tastic DRM in Assassins Creed 2) or delaying and then delivering an abomination not fit for public consumption (see: Force Unleashed).

Bioware has been great to PC gamers. They don't touch the utter beating PC gamers usually take when new titles are released. It sounds really stupid to hear half the shack saying PC gaming is dead, suck it up and live with console dominance, and then to pretend everything is just dandy when the tables are turned on a nice game like The Witcher.

Yes, I agree. The PC ports of God of War, Zelda and Mario are always very much subpar. And Last Remnant (one of the "countless jrpgs that are seemingly coming to PC, though I don't know where he got that from)? That was vastly superior on the pc to the Xbox version...

              See: My previous post(s).

I didn't say there weren't well developed cross-platform games for the PC, just that they are rare.

And as Lucien Irenicus pointed out BioWare is one of the few companies that still has a solid focus on the PC platform.

It is interesting that people would blame the console for Mass Effect 2's streamlining, considering that the series started on...the Xbox, and only came to PC 6 months later in the first place.

I hate exclusives. I am a gamer not a club member.

With that said I also like my PC games unmolested. :)

You might as well play it on the PC. In all honesty, the game is designed for a PC and not a console. If you're capable of running it, show your PC some love and enjoy the game.

In this day and age, when PC-exclusives are getting rare, it's a breath of fresh air to enjoy such a quality experience on the PC.
