Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Screenshots: Loop-the-Loop

New Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 screenshots of Splash Hill Zone show exactly what one would expect in the first zone of a side-on Sonic game--brown chequered earth, bright green grass, leaping robotic piranha and running upside-down. Bliss.

Of course it don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing, which is why Sega provides the music from Splash Hill Zone Act 1 in handy MP3 format for your listening pleasure.

Co-developed by Sonic Team and Sonic Rush dev Dimps, Sonic 4 will be released episodically though Sega has said that "the best way to view it is as a first part in a much larger adventure" similar to how Sonic 3 was continued by Sonic & Knuckles.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 is slated for a downloadable release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and a further unrevealed platform this Summer. No price is yet known.

Wow, they seem to really be going back to their roots. Listening to that level track and you can pick up the hints of the originals in the beat, which is a huge deal. I hated how Sonic evolved over the newer consoles and this is the first time that I have flashbacks of sitting on my ass in the basement playing the first games....

Can't wait for this to come out.
