Battle vs. Chess Announced

Looking to "breathe new life" into Chess, TopWare and Zuxxez today unveiled a "progressive title [aimed] at developing a unique fusion between vivid 3D environments & characters, professional chess software and upbeat combat visuals & mechanics." The cleverly-named "Battle vs. Chess" is based upon ChessBase's "world renowned Fritz! chess algorithm software" and due out in May 2010 at an unknown price-point.

As for platforms, TopWare only made a vague mention of "multiple" in its announcement, though the official site sports PC, Mac, Xbox 360, Wii and Nintendo DS logos

So is this just a graphically-updated Battle Chess, or does it actually introduce different rulesets?

I bet it is, but they couldn't get the rights to the name Battle Chess so they dropped a vs. in there
