Monkey Island 2 Special Edition Coming in Summer, Packing Audio Commentary
by Alice O'Connor, Mar 11, 2010 5:40am PSTLucasArts' hallowed adventure game Monkey Island 2 will be revamped this summer in Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck's Revenge, the developer has announced.
Like LucasArts' recent revamp of the original Monkey Island, the Special Edition of Monkey Island 2 features all-new hand-drawn art, a re-mastered orchestral score, a full voice-over and the ability to switch between the original and revamped looks.
Unlike the The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition, there's now the option to have the new voices in both classic and contemporary graphics modes, a "direct control" option and in-game audio commentary from "the game's creators" in "select scenes."
Developed and published by LucasArts, Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck's Revenge is scheduled for a downloadable release on PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, iPhone and iPod Touch this summer. No price was revealed, though for reference the original's revamp cost $10 on PC and Xbox 360 then $8 on iPhone.

After this, remake Full Throttle and The Dig. :)
But nothing else you have in your inventory is at all useful for that specific situation: only the one thing you're supposed to use right then.
Oh, you have to smash that flower vase. You can't just throw it on the floor or even hit it with the club you're carrying: you have to pick up a rock from four screens back and use that.

Really not liking the art style... I wish LucasArts would give Monkey Island a real budget and give it a Monkey Island 3 make-over, as opposed to the current Shockwave Flash 99 cent style value-game look.
That being said, apparently MI2 supports OLD STYLE GFX + NEW VOICES = MUST BUY for me. :D
It seems empty. The colors feel more bland, everything just looks shiny and smooth. There's no "love" in this new interpretation. And don't even get me started on the changes to Guybrush himself.... :(

Hope they don't screw up the voice acting, especially the SINGING in one of the best parts of the game.
Er, whoever could make that happen.
