Napoleon: Total War Demo Released

3
Got a hankering for some historical strategy but not sure if Napoleon: Total War (PC) is up your alley? Then I've got some good news: a demo is now up for grabs on Steam.

The 1990MB download includes two sections, a "War on Land" tutorial and "Battle of Ligny," with the latter offering the option to player as either France or Prussia.

Released back in February, Napoleon: Total War marked the first entry in the Creative Assembly-helmed series to feature day-one campaign multiplayer--the promised multiplayer beta for Empire: Total War arrived nearly nine months after its release--and requires Steam due to its use of the platform's Steamworks functionality.

So how is this? Never tried any of the Total War games, but I wouldn't mind to.

I heard a lot of complains about the technical side of Empire: Total War. Is this coming along better?

I'm not a big fan of Empire's/Napoleon's time period but I own all the rest of the Total War games and they are great. Best part about them is the mods that people create. One of my friends bought empire when it first came out and he hated how buggy it was at first but he said its fine now and plays it all the time. Personally though I haven't played anything beyond the demo and it just didn't really cut it for me. I would recommend getting one of the games that best interests you based on the time period. Rome Total War is by far my favorite of the entire series and probably will always be(especially with the mods) based solely on my love for that era of history.

I'd probably skip this one and just go straight for Empire. The Napoleon campaigns are really just a watering down of the Grand Campaign mode in E:TW. The game was an absolute dog when it was released a year ago, but it's reasonable now, no more and no less buggy than any of the other TW games.

Thats what I also think, already got E:TW and see no reason to get this at all.

It's great actually. Ive played most of the TW games but never been a total hardcore player. While some of the harder core people are not liking it, to me it easily feels the best TW game to play to date imo. Performance is a lot better, camera is tight, interface is nice, ai has been tweaked to be not as retarded. It's really good - particularly if you have any interest in Emperor Frog's historical side. I Personally enjoy playing through the instant play historical battles, some are really quite challenging
