The Path Dev's 'The Graveyard' Hits iPhone

The Path developer Tale of Tales has released an iPhone and iPod Touch port of its "explorable painting" The Graveyard, available now from the iTunes App Store for $2.

"You play an elderly woman who visits a cemetery," says Tale of Tales. "She walks down a straight path towards a bench in front of a chapel. She is old and has trouble walking... When she finally arrives at the bench, the woman sits down and listens to a song. It's a pensive moment, a quiet pause."

"It's not a game in the sense that there is a way to win or lose or a puzzle to solve, or even a story to uncover," explain founders Auriea Harvey and Michael Samyn. "But the interaction does immerse you in a virtual world filled with narrative, an equally powerful feature of the medium of videogames... the fact that you hold the game in your hand and touch it with your finger, adds to the sensation of fragility and preciousness."

A free 'Lite' demo version is on offer which, like its PC and Mac counterparts, is identical to the full game bar one feature--a chance of the old dear croaking.

Pretentious like tons of modern art? Who knows, didn't play it yet but I kinda like the idea. I think it might have been more impressive with it "just being there" instead of rambling about preciousness.

stroke your screen very gently so as not to disturb the precious fragility of it. you hold it in your hand you know.
