Morning Discussion: Women's Day
by Chris Faylor, Mar 08, 2010 5:00am PST"Please mention International Women's Day," she says. "It's the Alice thing to
do."
So I did, but not without doing a little research first:
International Women's Day (8 March) is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future. In some places like China, Russia, Vietnam and Bulgaria, IWD is a national holiday.

I've posted about this problem before but now it's really getting annoying. Being one of those people with the ability to play on any of those platforms, I have to choose which group of friends to join when I play online games. It used to be so easy before consoles became decent for online play. Everyone had the PC version, so firing up a game of Raven Shield, BF2, or Generals was easy to do. We would all join the same server and have lots of fun. Now that people have branched off, every time a cool new game comes out, I have to tally up who will play what and when. I picked Modern Warfare 2 for 360 and since then I've been getting shit for not buying it for PS3. Now it looks like I will have to get BFBC2 for all three platforms if I want to keep everyone happy. I should ask for subsidies if they want me to play. $180 on one game is steep. I could be playing two totally different games for that additional cost.
I really hope that someday, we have the ability to play the same game on the same multiplayer servers regardless of which system you have. I hate having to jump through these hoops.

The idea of ShackCon came up again in the Weekend Chatty, so I set up a form to gauge interest in actually doing this thing. So far, there have been 66 responses but I wanted to give the working stiffs who only check during the week a chance to respond, so here's the Monday Morning Repost.

Please answer honestly, since I'll be making decisions based on the results.
So far, 13/66 responses have something to do with hookers and/or strippers.
19/66 support the idea of a LAN party (though I think it's beyond my ability to organize ... )
As for a breakdown of years, 18 say 2010, 30 say 2011 and 16 say 2012. Should this replace or be in addition to Quakecon 2011?

I'm running a command remotely using ssh but I'm having trouble with environmental variables not being set. The machine I'm connected to uses kornshell (bash is not installed). I have a ~/.profile, which references a ~/.kshrc to setup all my variables. This all works fine when executing my command after logging in. Basically:
ssh user@host command --doesn't work
ssh user@host
$ command --works fine
Using google, I see how to fix this with bash, but not for ksh. The ssh command cannot be changed, since it is executed for multiple machines (all of which have bash so they don't have this problem).
Any advice?

Wow, I guess Galifinakis DID shave his beard. Granted, it's been 36 hours since that, so it's all back now. But god damn, that was fast. o_O

Started finally getting back into Knee Deep in ZDoom.
If you haven't played this, you really should!! Its just an amazing update to Episode 1 of Doom. Basically the team redesigned the entire first episode of Doom for the ZDoom engine. The levels are massively expanded over the original designs. Not to mention new enemies too!
The amount of detail they put into the levels is just amazing for the Doom Engine. Not to mention they took advantage of a lot of the improvements offered in ZDoom.

i don't get it. i'd imagine it could be imported pretty easily. i am going to boot up DAO after ME2 and from what i've played of it, it's just straight old-school 1990's dialogue trees.
