Joe Danger Making PlayStation 3 Jump
by Chris Faylor, Mar 05, 2010 9:00am PSTJoining LIMBO as this week's second Independent Games Festival nominee to make the leap to consoles, independent developer Hello Games today announced that its "stunt-em-up" Joe Danger is coming to PlayStation 3 in downloadable form this spring.
"We're a tiny team of four, trying to make a really big game, with some huge features like user generated content," marketing director Sean Murray noted in today's announcement. "We're the developer, the publisher and marketing team for Joe Danger. At best we know how to do one of those, and even that's arguable, it's a rollercoaster ride."
Also revealed was word that developer Hello Games will receive funding for Joe Danger from Sony's "PlayStation Network Publishing Fund"--said to "foster the development and distribution of new and exciting games from independent developers by offsetting development and publishing costs that have proven to be barriers."
Along with funding Joe Danger, Sony also hopes that the game's focus on user-generated content will expand the "Play, Create, Share" initiative made popular by Media Molecule's LittleBigPlanet and United Front's upcoming ModNation Racers.
