NHL 2K11 Only on Wii This Year

Traditionally released on a variety of platforms, 2K Sports' annual hockey franchise NHL 2K will be (mostly) taking this year off, with only a Wii edition of 2K11 planned.

NHL 2K10

The franchise will be returning to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2011, owner Take-Two affirmed in a conference call today, explaining that it had decided to skip 2010 so that the development team could focus on making NHL 2K12 the best it can be.

Obviously they have realized that since EA is kicking their asses in Hockey right now, they better go back to the drawing board. They can't compete in the football arena anymore (which is a shame), they own the multiplatform rights for MLB (Sony's game is better FWIW), but they routinely kick the crap out of EA when it comes to basketball. 2K's hockey games have gone downhill quickly while EA's have grown substantially.

2K10 for Wii is satisfying once you get your mind around the controls. The menu system however was absolutely abysmall. Worst menus ever... EVAR!
