Alpha Protocol Media Brings Proper Protection
by Chris Faylor, Mar 01, 2010 12:45pm PSTSure, Alpha Protocol is all about the seductive nature of globe-trotting, super-spy action, but that doesn't mean developer Obsidian is eschewing social responsibility with its shooter-RPG.
Take, for example, this latest barrage of media. Notice anything glaring? No? That's because the characters are protecting their eyes from the harmful rays of the sun. Even on cloudy days, they're still there, you know.
What other values will be tucked away within Obsidian's latest? We'll find out June 1, when the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 release arrives at North American shops.
Chatty: Diablo III, Dragon's Dogma
FileShack: Unity of Command, Skyjacker
Daily Filter: Planetside 2, Deadlight
Weekend PC digital deals: strategy-o-rama
38 Studios, Harry Potter Kinect - Shacknews Daily: May 25, 2012

1. Voice overs: Flat , dead, emotionless voices. Shit is blowing up and all I hear is deadpan monotony. Even that russian broad didn't sound seductive she sounded bORED. Whomever is telling these Voice Actors they are doing Good should be fired.
2. Lip Sync: This is 2010, unless this is a japanese port there is no excuse
3. Graphics look horrible: This the best they can do with mass effects engine? Seriously? Kane and lynch looked better.
4. Story is dull: Agent left high and dry, old boss wants to kill him, he finds new group. Someone watched a Bourne movie and though "OMG We Can Makez Game like that!" They forgot to add in something original.
All in all i'll wait for it to hit 19.99 and pick it up then. IF this is released soon it'll tank harder than Too Human. Shame, it looked like it hard promise.
The part where that blonde is putting the moves on the agent guy, she is still wearing the glasses and her hat as if it were her skin. The other animations look pretty poor as well.
I'll still buy the game because I am an RPG nut and I like Obsidian, but I don't see this selling too well. Hope I am wrong.
Best wishes to you guys at Obsidian.
BTW - kick-ass trailer.
I'm still waiting (what has it been, 10 years?) for the next Deus Ex.
