Blizzard: Still Targeting First Half of 2010 for StarCraft 2
by Brian Leahy, Feb 26, 2010 10:00am PSTComing out of yesterday's BlizzCast, the official Blizzard podcast, Shacker yAak noticed that StarCraft II lead producer Chris Sigaty dropped some juicy information about the length of the current multiplayer beta and retail release plans.
During the podcast, which focused on the release of the beta, Sigaty revealed the following:
We were targeting three to five months for the beta, we're really at a three month period of time for the beta at this point. We are still targeting the first half of this year... [for release.]
Blizzard had previously stated that the beta would run for around six months, which would have put the retail release of StarCraft II out of the first half of 2010. A three month beta would give Blizzard enough time to make changes based on feedback and have the game out the door before the first half of the year is through.
Then again, this is Blizzard. I'll believe it when I see it!
