Aliens vs. Predator PC Patch for Monday
by Brian Leahy, Feb 25, 2010 4:30pm PSTSEGA announced that a new patch for the PC version of Rebellion's Aliens vs. Predator will hit on Monday.
SEGA "will also have news on an additional feature... many of you have been waiting for which is now ready for a closed Beta test!"This is most likely dedicated server support, which was said to be close to beta last Tuesday.
Patch Notes
General:
- Stability improvements to address rare and infrequent hangs
- Implemented a workaround for missing audio issues with certain hardware (SoundBlaster X-Fi, Realtek onboard, etc.)
- Fixed save games being lost or corrupted if connection to Steam is lost or if user switches to offline play
Multiplayer:
- Fixed XP being incorrectly affected by offline play (though only in the local stats; this will be corrected next time you connect to multiplayer)
- Fixed other players sometimes appearing to have the wrong weapon or continuing to fire indefinitely after dying
- Fixed rare issue where players would be temporarily invisible
- Fixed some selection of servers and players in menus sometimes being incorrect
Most interesting to me is the not about fixing players continuing to fire immediately after dying. I always thought that was an intentional feature. I didn't mind.
Thanks to Shacker niceguynick for the tip.

Anyway, this patch is basically "meh". I want a patch that fixes the problem of the predator not firing its select weapon when energy is full, or maybe something to address the atrocious controls and camera problems (for alien in particular, though the others have their problems as well).
I'll just keep wanting lol

A hotfix driver has been released for ATI cards and is available here:

We advise players to follow the recommendation of ATI and only install this if you are experiencing hangs/freezes (i.e. the game becomes unresponsive but does not crash)when attempting to run AVP in DX11/10 mode.
I hate not to play the games at lower than maximum detail.

Maybe if enough people sound off on things like this other companies might take notice?

Also, is each game still limited to 2 predators? I hated that.. If it's equally-balanced, why limit it to 2? Unless that's an admission that the Pred is overpowered (which any good Alien player would disagree with).
