Supreme Commander 2 Pre-Loading Begins on Steam
by Brian Leahy, Feb 25, 2010 5:30pm PSTValve have announced that Gas Powered Games and Square-Enix's Supreme Commander 2 is now available for pre-loading ahead of the strategy game's March 2, 2010 release date. A demo of the game was released on Steam yesterday along with confirmation that the game will utilize Steamworks for DRM.

Also, I'm really surprised by how much people are hating this game. To be honest, I thought the economy was the most annoying thing imaginable in the first Supcom and FA. You were screwed if you messed up just one little build order, and that really killed the fun for me. Also I never wanted to play online because the main strategy was: spam units, bomb base, spam units...5-10 minutes later you win/lose!
The new economy isn't without it share of problems, but now armies actually have a purpose and need to be carefully coordinated as opposed to being rally-pointed to the enemy base.
Personally I had far more fun with playing the SupCom2 demo than I did most of the times playing SupCom1 and FA.
Just my viewpoint though. Maybe I'm in the "dumb noob" player category that everyone thinks the game is made for, but I consider the fun factor more important than an ideal design concept.
