Lost Planet 2 GameStop Pre-Order Bonus Changed, Split-Screen Multiplayer Confirmed
by Chris Faylor, Feb 25, 2010 1:20pm PSTCiting "massive demand," Capcom has changed the GameStop-exclusive pre-order bonus for Lost Planet 2 as, in the company's words, it "listens to the fans."
The previous pre-order bonus--a multiplayer skin of Resident Evil villain Albert Wesker, complete with Magnum Revolver--will now be available to all that buy the game.
Instead, those that pre-order the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 action game from GameStop will now receive two exclusive multiplayer maps, detailed below:
HelixThe underwater NEVEC mining facility houses several layers and twisted corridors. Swim between the layers, or dive to the bottom to change your point of attack. Aqua Catapults can launch you to the upper levels in a hurry, and you must learn every corner and get the upper hand on your enemies.
Back to the Island
The shady atoll of Island 902 is broken into wide open spaces and compact interiors. Choose your battlefield from the beaches to the battered carrier, or explore a new dimension in the underwater battle. Control the bridge to dominate the map, but beware attacks from all sides.
In addition, Capcom confirmed that the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 editions of Lost Planet 2 due out May 18 will pack support for two-person split-screen multiplayer.
A PC version of Lost Planet 2 is also expected, but does not have a release window.

Worse even than selling them in separate map packs, it ensures that after the game comes out, nobody will get access to those maps, thus guaranteeing that they'll almost never get played.
(Though somehow I suspect they'll end up selling them later on.)
