Nintendo DSi XL Launch Date, Pricing Revealed
by Chris Faylor, Feb 24, 2010 9:36am PSTThe super-sized Nintendo DSi XL will hit North America on March 28 at $189.99, manufacturer Nintendo revealed this morning.
Already out in Japan and due in Europe on March 5, the XL sports a much larger body and screen over the handheld's previous iterations.
Specifically, the Nintendo DSi XL has two 4.2" screens--roughly 93% larger than the DS Lite's 3" displays--along with a thick pen-shaped stylus. As with other Nintendo DS models, it also sports a slimmer stylus that can be stored within the main body.
In keeping with the specific DSi branding, the XL has two cameras--one facing outward, one inward--plus internal storage for downloadable games and an SD Card slot for additional storage, but is not compatible with Game Boy Advance cartridges.
Added Nintendo: "The new system launches in both Burgundy and Bronze colors, and comes loaded with pre-installed premium software Brain Age Express: Arts & Letters, Brain Age Express: Math and Photo Clock, as well as two free applications: the Nintendo DSi Browser and Flipnote Studio."
