                all of the launches this generaltion were rough, none of them had particular good or exciting titles to play for the first several months to a year. i am on my THIRD xbox360. i bought a 360 on launch day and it lasted less than a year. you can tout all of the online features you want but if the thing breaks i ain't playing online. that launch unit broke on me twice before i finally sold it (after it got repaired the 2nd time less than 2 months after the first repair). i bought another unit and one lasted just over a year. keep in mind during this entire period of time the 360 was my primary gaming system (outside of WoW). so my 2nd console failed, i had it repaired and i started playing games elsewhere because the system was so fucking fragile. finally the jaspers start trickling out, so i sold my 2nd system (which had already died once, recall). the guy i sold it to had it die on him less than 6 months after i sold it to him.
                
                i am not sure why i bothered buying a jasper tbh, because by then i had started buying multiplatform games for the PS3. i bought a PS3 controller with the 360 stick layout so the controller doesn't bother me as much and the games look just as good. i don't give a shit about halo anymore after the experience that was trying to play Halo 3 online, and I never enjoyed Gears of War multiplayer. that makes the TWO exclusive series the system has more or less useless to me. i don't give a shit about Bayonetta and I play MW2 on the PC, and my 360 now has so much dust on it I'll have to clean it before i turn the thing on to play Alan Wake in a couple months. Shadow Complex is the only reason I turned my 360 on last year at all.
                
                I'll be interested to hear your opinion of the PS3 once you get it home and play some games. download the Killzone 2 demo, try Wipeout HD on your new HDTV, take a look at LBPlanet, the Heavy Rain demo. Demon's Souls (talk about wierd co-op) or MGS4 (don't pay full price for MGS4 if you aren't a series fan) and definitely pop the God of War Collection in to check those out. And honestly, Uncharted 2 is one of the best singleplayer stories I've ever played, I would be shocked if you found it disappointing for the 10ish hours it takes to finish on easier difficulties. There is a lot more to the system than God of War 3, which I expect will be totally fucking over the top awesome.
