Amnesia: The Dark Descent Trailer Gives the Heebie-Jeebies
by Alice O'Connor, Feb 19, 2010 7:30am PSTPenumbra developer Frictional Games has released a moody teaser trailer with several minutes of gameplay from its latest survival horror, Amnesia: The Dark Descent.
"The idea is to convey as clearly as possible that the player is in control of the character throughout the whole game," Frictional explains. "There are no cut-scenes or any sort of moments where control is taken away to force the narrative forward."
Previously named 'Unknown,' Amnesia: The Dark Descent is tentatively slated to hit PC, Linux and Mac in August costing $20 and can be pre-ordered for $16. A developer commentary track will be added to the game if 2,000 pre-orders are received by May 31.

on a more serious note, I'd love this kind of game mechanics in a Lovecraftian At The Mountains of Madness/Charles Dexter Ward type of setting.

Anyone who loves a good single player game needs to jump on this! Penumbra was excellent and it looks like they're taking it to the next level with this game.

Despite that, the game looks very interesting. Hope they pull it off.

The Penumbra games were quite good, with the only downside being rubbish combat. But the atmosphere was top notch.
