Prince of Persia: Forgotten Sands Release Date, Additional Wii Details Revealed

Having vowed that the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands would offer "a different gaming experience" than Wii, Nintendo DS and PSP, publisher Ubisoft today provided a few new details on the Wii action game.

In particular, the Wii version has been crafted "entirely from the ground up" by Ubisoft Quebec City and apparently "utilizes the full graphical capabilities of the Wii" in addition to "unique controls and capabilities" across its estimated fifteen hour run time.

This is what it looks like on Wii, if Ubisoft is to be believed.

A release date of May 18, 2010 and two new screenshots were also provided in today's mailing, though it's unclear if that release date applies to all versions--PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo DS, PSP--or just Wii. We're checking in with Ubisoft for release date clarification, especially as some retailers are listing the PC version for June. Originally, all versions were expected in May alongside the theatrical film.

Update: "All skus will be released on May 18," Ubisoft tells Shacknews.

    "run time" :D well put.

The graphics of this game on Wii remind me of Resident Evil 3 on Gamecube, in the sense that they seemed way too ambitious--but RE3 delivered.

    They seem plausible.

Meh, they don't look any better to me than PoP:WW did on the GC.

I'm guessing it'll look like that but with no AA. Those were probably really high res images scaled down.
