Dead Space 2 PC 'Under Consideration,' Might Yet Happen

The fate of Dead Space 2 on PC apparently still hangs in the balance, according to EA.com editor in chief Jeff Green on Twitter, as plans for a PC version are not outright scrapped--as had been as had been thought--but are only "under consideration."

The original Dead Space.

Dead Space 2's announcement last December stated that the horror shooter sequel would be hitting PC in addition to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 but a PC edition was not listed in EA's fiscal year 2011 lineup on Monday and an EA spokesperson had reportedly said "As of right now a PC sku is not in the plan."

Even Green seems a little confused by the kerfuffle, having posted only hours prior, "Rumor fact check: There will be a PC version of Dead Space 2. Worry not!" While a PC release might still never happen, at least there's now a glimmer of hope.

I dont get understand. I just visited the EA site 2 minutes ago. The -site LISTS the PC ver of Dead Space 2 very clearly (and I quote) -

"Available on XBox 360, PS3, PC"

So whats the deal then....?

Oh please put this on PC EA, I will beg you if I have to. I will buy three copies. I loved every bit of DS1 and I do not want to play DS2 in a gimped experience like DS1 was on 360 with 720p rendering, no AA, and lower texture res. WTF. Give us a PC option dammit.

It's so infuriating to fall in love with a series in high resolution/high spec on PC and then have it gimped. GoW comes to mind. Even with all those bugs, GoW was still superior on PC for the ability to actually *RENDER* in 1920x1200 (and higher), rather than upscale from 720p like on 360.

I liked it on PC. But more importantly I liked it for it's similarities to SS2's survival horror. If they're going all-out action this time i'm giving it a pass.

This is their ploy to sell more console games before a PC port is announced/released. So instead of publicly spreading out the console vs pc release times and taking flack for it like Ubisoft does, they are just pretending one isn't going to be made. Classy EA

If released, half the people will love it, and the other half will complain endlessly about it due to the crappy fov/camera/mouse and absolutely retarded issues with bindings. PC gamers will be shafted once again, and people will point fingers at them saying the constant nagging is the reason why developers don't want to release PC ports anymore.

I'm guessing that in the eyes of EA finance, a PC SKU isn't a sure thing, so they just left it out, and later said "currently not planned". This is not an ideal message in the eyes of EA marketing, so they're saying "don't lose hope!"

We'll have to see if EA finance or the senior execs at EA commit to a PC SKU; until then, nothing is guaranteed.

Don't include Securom and don't force Steam. If the game is good it will sell. Look at Fallout 3, Civ IV, Dragon Age, and Mass Effect 2. Securom and Steam will decrease sales whether the game is good or bad.
