Shack PSA: Trine PC Again $5 on Steam

If the opportunity to snag Frozenbyter's excellent platform-puzzler on the cheap has previously passed you by, good news! Trine PC is once again just $5 on Steam--that's 75% off--meaning that you have another few days to rectify the situation.

Representing the outlet's latest "Midweek Madness" sale, the discount is valid through Thursday, February 11. A separate sale, one that sees the price of various Total War games knocked down by some 66%, will be running through the end of the week.

And should you be the sort that wishes to play before they pay, a downloadable demo of Trine and its curious wizard can be found on FileShack and Steam. The game's also available on PlayStation 3 as a PlayStation Store download, though it runs $20.

Steam is absolutely the shit. Christmas sales were fuckin ridiculous, I must've bought over 10 games. Too bad my comp could hardly play the lot of them.

This is one of the games that made me feel awesome about PC games last year. Trine, Torchlight, AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! - A Reckless Disregard for Gravity, and VVVVVV. Now that the PC FPS genre is full of multiplatform console ports with DRM and DLC up the wazoo, and lackluster controls and/or multiplayer support, I'm branching out to smaller indie games.

IIRC the game was under 5 hours, but the gameplay itself is so awesome when you learn how to connect the capabilities of the three characters. I could easily play through this game 10 times in the next year and have a blast with it.

I really enjoyed this game, and I think Trine shows that 2d gameplay is still viable. This game actually made me more nostalgic for my SNES playing days. I was thinking it would be cool if there was, for example, a new Castlevania with 2d gameplay and Trine-like graphics.

Anyways, I definitely recommend Trine. It has great graphics, gameplay, and music. If I had one complaint it would be that sometimes the skeletons keep spawning for too long. And the bats. The bats are really annoying.
