Dead Space 2 No Longer Coming to PC, Survey Suggests XBLA & PSN Ports of Dead Space Wii
by Alice O'Connor, Feb 09, 2010 6:20am PSTThe PC edition of Dead Space 2 was conspiciously abscent from EA's fiscal year 2011 release lineup revealed yesterday--because apparently there is no longer a PC edition.
"As of right now a PC sku is not in the plan," an EA representative told Blue's News. No reason was given for scrapping the PC edition, which the video games colossus announced alongside Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions a mere three months ago.
Though Dead Space sold over one million copies in a period of under two months, PC sales evidently accounted for too small a percentage of those sales by EA's standards.
Meanwhile, an EA survey received by Kotaku suggests that the on-rails shooter Dead Space: Extraction--which sold poorly when it was release on Wii in September--might receive an Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network release potentially for $15.
The survey also revealed we may see a "resource strategy game" named 'Planet Cracker,' which tasks players with maximizing profit and defending ore from "Space Pirates" and could provide in-game rewards in Dead Space 2.
Coming from series creator Visceral Games, Dead Space 2 is slated to hit Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and unspecified handheld(s) between January 1 and March 31, 2011.

Have you guys played the PC version in widescreen? It was a horrible gaming experience. The FOV was so shallow it made it really hard to control. I'm disgusted at the thought of playing that game again.
It would have been a great little game if they didn't F-up the camera and controls.

Dear publishers, if you tell me to fuck off because of my chosen platform, then I tell you to fuck off as well.

I guess it's a good thing I have a PS3, but I still would have preferred a PC version.
Why do the retarded commoners enjoy wiggling their thumbs so much?
Shit port doesn't sell.
EA blames the platform for bad sales.
Not seen this tactic before. Nope.

Over all the lack of MP made it sell poor along with it been a crap port.
Hell the game was all so dull and easy along with the fact there was no twist to the game.
I mean it was clear form the start she was dead along with the fact you could tell where every enemy was and where the next would come form.
Over i bet it will copy the same style of dull game play poor controls(PC) and over all been as easy to read as a stop sign.

Apparently part 2 will be no longer a slow paced horror, but will follow the footsteps of Modern Warfare 2...LOL, very strange new direction - http://au.pc.ign.com/articles/106/1067176p1.html

As someone who has paid for every single game, im actually pretty let down with what piracy is doing to the PC. There is hope though. The legal system is finally doing something about piracy. Almost every major torrent site has pending legal action against itself. When internet piracy becomes as criminalized as physical theft, people will think twice before throwing up another site. Obviously it is illegal, but I dont think that many people view internet piracy the same way as someone shop lifting. Once they start putting these criminals behind bars, I guarantee that we will will see better PC games.

I suppose this could just be an announcement to sway the PC holdouts that will say 'screw it' and buy for their preferred console, and six months later they'll quietly ship a PC release.
But then I was... ..|..
So fuck....just...FUCK!

When they released UTIII for the PC, they sold only a little over 100,000 copies, but there where over 3 million unique users on the PC, so definitely was not worth the ROI. Which is why they decided not to release Gear 2 for the PC like they did for the first one.
So, I would imagine EA's decision to not bring it to the PC is for a similar reason.
Sux when papsmears ruin it for the rest of us.

What does that tell you EA?
(EA response would be something along the lines of "we're not even going to try then")

Bring on Lost Planet 2 already!
It's like saying "We punish gamers for our shitty PC port."
How can this be EA's fault for scrapping the PC version? It sold horribly. If it had been made separately, with a huge budget and everything, then instead of 36,000 sales, it would have gotten 50,000 (still crap) and most of you would have still pirated the game. I'm guessing the game has been pirated 1/2 a million times up till now. I don't often take EA's side, but they were right to cancel it because it's a business, and that lost them a lot of money.
I just wish they would come out and say, "shitty sales and too many illegal downloads killed this game," instead of putting it like they did. That would pretty much shut everyone up then.

Definitely would have picked DS2 up on PC, but even though I own a 360 it just doesn't seem as appealing to me now that it'll be stuck on consoles and the limitations they impose.
