Backbreaker Trailer Looks Behind-the-Scenes
by Chris Faylor, Feb 08, 2010 10:50pm PSTTaking a few stabs at competitor Madden NFL, developer NaturalMotion uses this developer diary to detail how its physics-driven PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 footballer Backbreaker differs from other games. For example, a lower camera view.
"You're not this kind of, god over the football field who can see everything," explains tester Mike O'Neill. Another example? The use of pink character outlines to highlight the procedural animations--though sadly, that particular aspect seems like the sort of development tool that won't be accessible to the end users come Spring 2010.

Red Dead appears to be my only living-ragdoll-playground for the foreseeable future.
As much as this looks well done.. Why would anyone play a game of a game? I've never quite understood why they don't go outside and play ball. If only I could go outside and lead armies, explore alien worlds or kill those opposed to me without legal ramifications.
Give me these physics in a melee combat game. Imagine this applied to, cheap example, a medieval tech level CTF game.
Running around an arena tackling each other and swinging maces, clubs and morningstars while customised siege engines launch massive objects into the enviroment as dynamic cover/environmental hazards.
