World of Warcraft Planning PC and iPhone Access to Auction House Outside the Game

8
An official Blizzard poster dropped an interesting nugget of information in World of Warcraft's official forum today. He states that there's a new service being developed that will give players new ways to remotely access the MMO's Auction House. No longer will pesky things like real life get in the way of buying and selling virtual items and equipment.

When the update launches, players will be able to use World of Warcraft's in-game Auction House via enhanced versions of the Armory website and Armory App that will be accessible using the iPhone, iPod touch, or PC. Details about how the service will ultimately work are sparse, though at least some features won't be free. "It's important to note here that certain elements of the service will be premium-based," Bornakk stated, "which we'll go into more detail on once the service functionality is finalized."

The service is still very much under development, and there's no official release date to report yet, but we'll keep an eye out for more details to be revealed on the official World of Warcraft website as its release nears.

This would have been pretty badass had it come out a long time ago. It's a great idea, but the players of the game asked for this years ago.

As a new player (lvl 40) I think this is incredibly awesome and kind of scary to think about how much I'll use this. I've been mining like crazy and selling shitloads of bar stacks (not ball sacks) on the AH and becoming gradually rich at my low level.

Interesting idea but I must agree with Yaystuff. We have asked for this years ago. However at least its in development and soon we will be able to control our auctions @ work during lunch break etc etc. Good job.
