Borderlands PC Patch v1.2.1 Released

32
Gearbox has once again updated Borderlands PC, bringing improved multiplayer connectivity and some graphical tweaks to its post-apocalyptic shooter-RPG.

The 191MB v1.2.1 update is available on FileShack, with the German version once again getting a separate update due to its censored nature. Please note, these are only for retail copies--if you bought Borderlands PC through a digital distribution outlet, you'll need to get the patch from them.

As for patch notes, here's what Gearbox had to say:

The update contains the following:
  • Multiplayer connectivity has been improved; users should no longer be required to forward ports to host or join multiplayer games
  • Players who experienced distorted shadows or graphical glitches after update 1.0.1 should no longer experience these issues
  • The 3D Vision crosshair has been improved

I know its mental but seriously it not hard to add a port range in your forwarding table I have been doing this for decades.

Yes I agree they should of made it easier for the none router guys or windows firewall exception settings if you host.

Still I would rather have a FOV and ThirdPerson fix personally, for the Multi player does work without this patch I play all the time.

You know what is really scary, when you watch the Bachelor with your girl friend (don't laugh you have to sacrifice some times) and the women on the show are 23 and 25, and then you say to your self FUCK I am 30 I am getting freeking old yet I practically do everything I did in my teens and 20s.

Messed up, its like I am in a black hole time warp weird thingy... I still refuse to let the Arcade playing Kid in me ever die... just cannot do it.

it gets worse. from what i understand, talking to my grandparents and other genuinely old folks, your internal image pretty much STAYS around 20 for your entire life. so one day you wake up and youre 70, but you still feel like that 20 year old person inside your head, and all you can think is... how did this happen? when did i get so old?

Ahhhhh make it stop :( you are freeking me out...

Some times I wonder, being a Human is a Blessing and a Curse... its just not fair.

Then again we have women, video games, booze, drugz, movies, different food, all the cool plants, animals and locations in the planet, etc so its really not that bad :)

                  The glass is half full...

Its the people that care about age and judge you buy it that you have to watch out for.

dude I spent at least 3 hours trying to get the ports forwarded for Borderlands and it never worked. I know I am able to do it for other ports as utorrent shows that it can connect to the port I chose for sharing all my linux distribution torrents.

          Weird?

          Try this:

Just do - run - cmd - ipconfig (or what ever to get you IP)

Login to your router - find the advanced settings - find Forwarding - port Forwarding (or something like that)

Make sure your IP is in the list , if not add it

Make sure you enable both protocals if they are selectable

          Then just add the range 0 - 40 000

          Should work 100%

Now there is a catch I tried this with my freind I play with every week. The guy hosting has to load the game first and choose online in the menu.

ONLY THEN only then get your buddies to load up the game then get the host to invite you.

If you do not do this the invite counter will count down and you will never connect.

This is a issue with the game not IP Forwarding, maybe the patch fixes this bug?

Shit I almost forgot two things:

            - make sure windows fire wall is off

            - when you are done playing set the port range 0 - 40 000 back to what ever you had

            - and turn your windows fire wall settings back to on.

I don't know what's worse, all the hoops you had to jump through to play this with your friends or.... the fact that they released the patch like 4 months after the game was released during which they released 2 DLCs.

              haha....

You are correct I guess I take it for granted its no big deal for me.

Probably most don't even know its in the router setting or even how to get to the control panel for that matter.

I've grown used to forwarding ports and, god help me, even getting IRQs to work for multiplayer before, but honestly, getting Borderlands Coop to work with a friend of mine was a real pain in the ass. Unexpected on this day and age. It wasn't just straightforward port forwarding, btw.

Game Ranger not work for you guys? Ok, so you still had to click "join Lan Game" in Borderlands and then select the Game Ranger LAN game. I'm not saying it couldn't have worked correctly out of the box from Gearbox, I'm saying I thought Game Ranger was a pretty well known, easy to use work around that didn't require manual port forwarding.

I remember when we had lan parties about 15 years ago trying to get everyone's machine to play nice. Come a long way since those days.

I know how to port forward, BL still didn't work for shit. I even put my computer in DMZ and it still didn't work right. So... on to better games. I've never run into any game that's given me as much trouble trying to play online, except for possibly trying to play Doom over direct-dial as a 12 year old kid.

Although now that they patched it, I may give it another try. Either way they took my money so it's no difference to them.

It just means you don't NEED to do port forwarding anymore, NAT negotiation is the feature they added, so now you can play with your buddies even if you're all behind firewalls.
