StarCraft 2 Beta System Requirements Revealed (Update: Not Accurate, Says Blizzard)
by Alice O'Connor and Chris Faylor, Jan 29, 2010 10:20am PSTUpdate: Though the specifications emerged via a now-removed Blizzard Support Page, the company now says the below requirements are not accurate. In addition, Chandler55 points out that the specs are near-identical to those of World of Warcraft, reinforcing Blizzard's claim that the posting contained placeholder information.
Original Blizzard has unveiled the system requirements for the closed beta version of its much-anticipated and long-coming PC real-time strategy sequel StarCraft 2.
Of course, exactly when the beta will begin has yet be disclosed.
At last official word, Blizzard expected the first StarCraft 2 release, Wings of Liberty, to hit store shelves within the first half of 2010. Two other games, the Zerg-centric "Heart of the Swarm" and Protoss-heavy "Legacy of the Void," will later round out the trilogy.

It's just going to have upgraded graphics and game mechanics that were around four years ago.

I also wonder if this will finally draw all the pros away from CRTs. I wonder about balance between widescreen and standard (as in the CRTs the pros still use). How do you balance having one group able to see more of the screen? Or do they average it out, with standard seeing a little more vertically and wide seeing a little more side to side? Or will they just mandate an optimal aspect ratio and you'd better use it if you want to compete? So many questions

These system requirements are not accurate – the page went up with some placeholder information. We will have more information about beta system requirements once the beta starts. We’d appreciate it if you could amend the story and/or pull the listed numbers.
Thanks, and please feel free to contact me in the future for fact checking before posting StarCraft II stories.

After seeing the post from bbertram I guess it was too good to be true. I do hope they have a low mimimum though so those on older systems will be able to enjoy it. I would like to be able to play it on both my PC's with the Wife and I am not upgrading the older one anymore.

And here I thought the game was going to have way higher requirements, C&C 3-like.
