Rockstar Comments on Allegations of Poor Working Conditions at San Diego Studio

As part of a general question and answer post on its official website Developer Rockstar Games gave a brief comment regarding accusations of unfair working conditions made in an open letter from the "Determined Devoted Wives of Rockstar San Diego Employees," that surfaced earlier this month.

Rockstar's response to the controversy seems fairly dismissive, simply describing the hullabaloo as a situation where "people are taking opinions of a few anonymous posters on message boards as fact."

"We're saddened if any former members of any studio did not find their time here enjoyable or creatively fulfilling and wish them well with finding an environment more suitable to their temperaments and needs," said Rockstar, adding, "We've always cared passionately about the people working here, and have always tried to maintain a supportive creative environment. There is simply no way Rockstar could continue to produce such large scale, high quality games without this."

No mention was made of the more recent and similar complaints about sister studio, Rockstar Vancouver.

Red Dead Redemption is still due out on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on April 27th, with the European release following shortly thereafter on April 30th.

    A non-denial denial. Hilarious.

They "care" and want to create a "supportive creative environment", but they are "cutting edge" and anyone who wants to have a normal life (or family member who wants to see their spouse more than 20 hours a week) can "go fuck themselves". Beautiful.

Apparently the Hausers endorse the crunch heavy schedule. It's the way they have always done things and they figure that it's a successful formula so they have no reason to stop grinding people up.

The Hausers are true sociopaths. I don't mean that just because of how they run their company, they are truly fucked up people. My previous (female) boss used to tell incredibly creepy stories about interacting, or trying not to interact, with them.

As long as they run Rockstar, the major projects are going to be meat grinders, because they truly don't give a shit about people.

As long as they keep churning out money hats no one will care. Hence the heed for lawsuits.
