Ubisoft: New Assassin's Creed Keeps AC2 Setting, Beyond Good & Evil 2 Still Alive
by Chris Faylor, Jan 15, 2010 12:40pm PSTHaving recently announced that "a new episode of Assassin's Creed" with an "online multiplayer mode" is due out sometime between April 2010 and March 2011, publisher Ubisoft has now revealed a few more details on that and two other projects.
"The [new Assassin's Creed] will take place with the same hero, which is Ezio, and will follow-up the story that took place in Assassin's Creed 2," the company explained during a recent conference call, as reported by CVG, with CEO Yves Guillemot noting that it will also have an "offline component" and will be sold at a "full price point."
"It is the same studios because it's not only one studio creating the game, but an association of studios and they are working together to make it happen," he added. Both previous titles were developed chiefly by Ubisoft Montreal, with the second having arrived in November 2009--two years after the first and sold over six million copies since.
And while the company did not include either Beyond Good & Evil 2 or I Am Alive in its breakdown of the major titles due by March 2011, it confirmed to G4 that both projects are still in the works though "there's no additional info to provide at this time."
