Infinity Ward has released a new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 patch on PC through Steam to fix a handful of hacks, glitches and exploits as well as segregate pirates.

  • Fix for latest texture hacks
  • Fix to prevent players from getting inside geo
  • Fix to prevent players with illegally pirated copies of Modern Warfare 2 from matchmaking with legitimate Modern Warfare 2 players
  • Connection improvements for NAT-PMP routers
  • Fix for "elevator" glitch that allows players to get out of playable area

Publisher Activision announced yesterday that the shooter sequel has passed $1 billion US in estimated worldwide retail sales. Given how successful the map packs for Call of Duty: World at War were, the multiple Modern Warfare 2 downloadable content releases expected this spring should prove a nice little money-spinner too.

They got me because one of the apps I really wanted required the 3.0 update. Having an iPod Touch and not an iPhone, I had to pay $5 for it. Not that much, but its the principle of the thing. But, it's not worth trying to battle apple about doing that kind of shit, it's all they know how to do. I held out for awhile, but then again, the app I bought was at Xmas and it was $7.50 off, so technically I still saved $2.50 over the regular price.
