Final Fantasy 13 Trailer Reveals English Voices

If you've been keeping up with Final Fantasy XIII and its previous trailers, then the scenes in this latest one may seem a bit familiar. But that doesn't mean you should skip it, as it has one thing the others lacked: English voices.

Alongside the trailer, we've got three new screenshots to whet your appetite for Square Enix's latest RPG, which hits North America and Europe in PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 form March 9. If you can't wait that long, a playable sample of the game can be found on a touring bus, currently in the San Francisco and Bay area through January 16.

So I watched this trailer, then went and watched the Mass Effect 2 trailer again...

I dunno guys. I used to love Final Fantasy games. But now I just can't connect to JRPGs anymore it seems. Bad voice acting, the awkward inherent Japanese culture (those weird grunts and 'huh!'s, and the man-lady-boys), the cliche'd stories, and the frequent melodrama. It's just not something that I can get into anymore.

The game does look pretty though. For those of you who love JRPGs, I'm sure this will rock. I just can't seem to get into them anymore. D:

All this complaining that the trailer sensibilities aren't North American enough, but I'm glad to have a different voice in Japan. If this was a North American trailer it's have some lame emo alterna number instead, which is just as cheesy in it's own way. At least this is a slightly different variety than what we've gotten for most of this generation. Now bring on a updated persona for the new systems.

WHOA. Nevr played a final fantasy game ever ( i hate turn-based, more unrealistic than anything) but this game seems so epic, i have to get it! I mean the graphics alone are a seller, so crisp its unbelievable!

I guess there's been alot of bitching by the 2chan community that it's too linear. I, for one, enjoy not having to look at GameFAQs every 15 minutes to figure out where I need to go. I lost my ePSXe savestate for FF8 a year ago, and that reason is why I haven't attempted to play it again (as well as the pointless junction system)

I don't suppose there's any new information out there about differences between the versions eh? (other than the fact that some audio and video will be compressed for the 360 version) I wonder if this one might actually be better to get for my new PS3 since it seems that was the lead platform.

The music makes the trailer feel dated already, circa 1997.

At least in this one it appears to be easier to distinguish between male and female, but they've brought back the awful immersion-killing combat UI/fonts that made FFXII look so ridiculous.

Wow that was hard to watch with the horrible music. Anyone know if it will have all the Japanese tracks on the Bluray in case the voice acting gets worse than that video?

I really liked the voices, but I live in NYC and the music they chose to place made me think some dumbass was blaring there HOT97 tuned radio outside. I had to eventualy put it on mute. I really do wish they had gone with something orchestral instead of just choosing a song that they think "fits" American taste. UGH

i didn't know axle rose (sp?) was the main guy. but yeah, the emo stuff is annoying at best.

i suppose i can always play it with the mindset that they're all going to have crazy manga tentacle sex at the end, that might make it more bearable.

The English voices don't seem bad, although it'll take some getting used to after so many hours of listening to the Japanese ones. I'm still a little annoyed they chose to use a song by an English-speaking artist written *not* for the game, rather than just re-recording the theme song with her singing it in English.

Either way, definitely looking forward to playing the game again in March.
