Modern Warfare 2 DLC Packs Due in Spring
by Chris Faylor, Jan 07, 2010 11:30am PSTIt seems that Modern Warfare 2 will receive more than one downloadable add-on this spring, based off Microsoft's Consumer Electronics Show 2010 keynote.
"This spring, the first content packs for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 from Activision will be available, again, exclusively first on Xbox 360," stated Microsoft's Robbie Bach.
While we've known for a while that Xbox 360 will receive the spring-due content before any other platform, it's the first we've heard of multiple packs arriving in that timeframe.
The extent of the shooter's downloadable content remains to be seen--developer Infinity Ward has vowed to bring "at least" two map packs to PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 players, with "community feedback" helping determine what comes next.

But also, the maps in MW2 are good, I don't need more. Thats the other problem with them jumping the gun on this DLC, I can't see anyone feeling that it's needed. I'm curious, is anyone tired of the MW2 maps enough already to spend $10 on 4 more...? Not this guy. Only map packs I've bought were for WaW and that was just for the nazi zombies. Der riese was quite worth it even though I have to admit I got swindled.

Some people will say it's quality content, and that they're willing to pay for it.
And some people (like myself), will argue, that releasing free content adds value to your game, and allows you to move more units because of word of mouth. (AKA the TF2 model.)
I know I personally have talked 3 people into buying TF2, and I have purchased copies of it for 3 other people. So I personally have moved 7 copies of TF2.

In my opinion ninja knifers ruin the game. Obviously IW is not going to take them out, so why not have a no-knife mode? Everybody wins with that. The same could be done with tubes. And so one team doesn't get totally crushed in Ground contol, how about a mercenary ground crontrol mode? Once again, everyone wins. These are pretty easy fixes, so lets hope they somehow get the message.

Sorry to be another individual that states this, but Infinity Ward rages me. RAGE RAGE RAGE!!!
That does ultimately affect the longevity of the game but I think that is what Activision wants. They want you buying a new game every year. They don't see the value in something like TF2 where Valve is supporting the game for free year after year and players can contribute directly.
