Star Trek Online Trailer: Exploration Explosion

This game is a huge pile of shitt...And for those that still want to defend the game have in mind that some of us followed the game since the Perpetual days...Those people went over their heads and went bankrupt.Yet they had a real amazing vision for the game trying to make a beautifull full blown 3d sandbox world to explore with 1st/3rd person combat,real time ships interiors and full player bridge crews that could operate the ship together while flying a mission.(The way players can hope on a tank or a car in games like halo,battlefield etc...They showed some real time renders of their engine and the game honestly looked beautifull.
After Shitty cryptic took over they showed a hideus version of their game using some models and textures pasted over the city of heroes engine...The game uses that engine that was made in 2001 for the 2003 game city of heroes..It is a dx7 engine that cannot handle smooth transitions from level to level like EVERY OTHER SPACE SIM ENGINE CAN............The engine and games on the coh engine are instance based so that means that every few minutes there is loading of a seperate space part place.....
Also their craptastic engine cannot handle moving characters withing vechicles so there are no interiors in the ships while playing.............
ALSO THE SPACE IS 2D AND NOT 3D.........AND THE SPACE BATTLES ARE WITH COOLTIMES LIKE JPRG'S
THIS GAME IS AN ABOMINATION TO EVERY STAR TREK FAN AND GAME OUT THERE

notice how the movement of everything in this video is very rigid and calculated, from the ships to the people.. it's a shame that after all this time devs still can't get objects to animate smoothly and fluidly, it's subtle but if done right could really enhance the feel of the game..

Hello, my name is typical shacknews poster. This game is going to suck. I know because I haven't played it. Also, Cyptic is known for its shitty MMOs including there highly successful City of Heroes. Even though the game has been in development since 2003, Cryptic definitely threw out everything they acquired, because wouldn't you? So, this game is lucky if it has 2 years of development in it.

I think I'll stick around and play my same old six year old MMO or wait around for the new Star Wars MMO. Because the first one worked out so well! Also, Bioware has great experience with MMOs. There has never been a bad Star Wars game, unlike Star Trek (Remember those awful game like Bridge Commander and Elite Force? Ugh.)

This game is such a complete fail for me. I was truly excited at first. I thought I would be getting an open-world sandbox type MMO. Instead, it's Champions Online Star Trek edition. There is no 'exploration'. No crafting. No nothing. It's a WoW clone with space ships.

if they hurry up and time it just right, they can blame its failure on that start wars mmo coming out.
