StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty Packs Protoss 'Mini-Campaign'

33
A Protoss "mini-campaign" will be part of the Terran-focused singleplayer campaign in StarCraft 2's first instalment 'Wings of Liberty,' Blizzard has revealed.

"I can confirm that there will be a Protoss mini-campaign that lets you control Protoss units," writes European RTS community manager Stefanie Gwinner in a forum post.

"This part of the campaign mode is of course way shorter than the Terran part, but it is very fun to have a very different playstyle to add even more variety to the game," she explains, though "you won't be using all units or getting to know buildings and upgrades."

Gwinner later clarified that "this is not a separate campaign set apart from the Terran campaign. These are missions in the campaign where you play as Protoss."

StarCraft 2's full Protoss singleplayer campaign will arrive in the third instalment 'Legacy of the Void,' while the Zerg go second with 'Heart of the Swarm.' All three races are still playable in multiplayer, whose much-anticipated beta failed to make its planned 2009 launch. SC2: Wings of Liberty was most recently scheduled for the first half of this year.

Really? Why would you play as the Protoss during the Terran campaign? Makes more sense to just leave it out completely and add Protoss/Zerg tutorials for multiplayer IMO.

My favorite part of Warcraft III was the Orc side story. I hope it is something similar that helps set up the next campaign.

If it's a part of the story they created, why not? Probably some cooperation event between Terrans and Protoss, or maybe playing the Protoss gives you an important perspective on some events that the Terrans wouldn't have.

probably some mutual protection pact that gives you the authority to use some protoss units without actually having access to everything the protoss can do when you are actually playing the protoss campaign.

Starcraft 2 ended with the Protoss and the Humans tentatively allied to fight Kerrigan. I don't see why you wouldn't have Fenix if the human campaign focuses on Jim Raynor

        Fenix is dead.

Wasn't he put into a dragoon body? or was he killed a second time?

No, he was placed in a dragoon. Tassadar, however, is so dead.

He is dead twice. You guys need to play the campaigns again.

You ice him during the zerg bw campaign mission True Colors.
