Indie Platformer 'VVVVVV' Coming Sunday

Indie developer Terry Cavanagh has announced that his topsy-turvy platformer VVVVVV will be released on January 10 for $15. Windows, Mac and Linux flavours will be available DRM-free from its site.

Rather than jumping, VVVVVV sees players inverting gravity to navigate the harsh but fair spiky retro world. I thoroughly enjoyed VVVVVV's challenging charms when I played at the Eurogamer Expo and a demo is in the works so you can check it out for yourself.

I like it, but I feel like $15 is a bit prohibitive. I find myself thinking "if this were only $10, I would probably buy it without thinking."

Really love the style, too many people get hung up on "good graphics". I find most games with "good graphics" at the time they were made end up just not being memorable. Sure, Forza 3 looks good, but if it switched from Forza 3 graphics to Forza 2 during a race, I don't know if I would notice.

But some games are intentionally not as "pretty" as they could be but have a style that makes them 100x more memorable than what I consider "the usual".

Forgot to add, the random words and shapes (stop sign) as the obstacles are hilarious and I wonder if theres any kind of reason for some of them, if it plays into any level themes or story...
