I fear that even the great Mr. Nimoy can't save this game from mediocrity. I keep wanting to give this game the benefit of the doubt, but judging by all the information released so far I can't help but feel that this game IS NOT what true Star Trek fans were hoping for in an MMO.

I am sick of people counting this game out who haven't even tried it.

...and I AM sick of those who say I can't judge a game's features by their appearance despite our multi-decade experience with game industry disappointment.

Have you tried it? And if Champions Online is any indication of how this game will be then it is in some serious trouble. And in all seriousness, have you paid attention to what the developers are saying, at all? I'm sorry, but as a long time Star Trek fan, (I'm 41 years old) this game IS NOT what Star Trek fans are asking for. I'm not totally counting it out, I'm just saying that I have some serious concerns with the direction the developers are taking.

And I'm still not even sure why people are complaining about Champions Online. That game is pretty damn good, and a definite improvement over City of Heroes.
If Champions Online is any indication of how good Cryptic will make this game then I am sure Star Trek Online will be very good.
It seems it's just fashionable to be all full of hatred and bitterness on the internet.

Champions online was a joke, there's no challenge at all in playing it.

If by good you mean slightly above average then I can agree with your assessment of Champions Online. That game is far from "pretty good" in my opinion and (not that I hold it in very high regards) a Metacritic score of 72 seems to agree. And with CO recently going with a free-to-play (up to level 15) merely a few months after release is an indication of just how "good" it's doing. Nevertheless, if you enjoy it and think it's a good game then by all means have fun as that is your prerogative. I for one do not care for it and I feel it is very cookie-cutter and bland.

As far as being full of hatred and bitterness, I suppose some people are. I, on the other hand, am just voicing my concerns about a game I had high hopes for and now feel that I'm going to be disappointed.

I agree, this game has no target audience at all. Its not for trekkies and its not for hardcore mmo gamers. Casual gamers will most likely not like the star trek brand (i know alot of casual gamers who wont touch it because its star trek) and opt to play something like world of warcraft.

So cryptic, please tell me who the fuck is suppose to play this game? and what distinguishes it from other mmos apart from the star trek brand?

Seems all of the MMO studios try to please everyone and end up pleasing no-one.

No bridge view during combat is a huge issue for me. They have no idea what Trekkies want.
