Leonard Nimoy Back as Spock in Star Trek Online

A new behind-the-scenes trailer for Cryptic Studios' space and land-faring MMO Star Trek Online reveals Star Trek veteran Leonard Nimoy (Mr. Spock) lending his unique vocal talents to the the game's introduction. He will also be involved with "key scenes and events in-game."

"I am happy to be involved with Star Trek Online. In this game, the essence of Star Trek - exploration and adventure - lives long and prospers," said Nimoy. "I'm pleased that a whole new generation of fans will be able to discover new frontiers in the Star Trek universe."

Star Trek Online formally launches on February 2, with an open beta starting in mid-January and pre-order " early start" access beginning on January 29.

I fear that even the great Mr. Nimoy can't save this game from mediocrity. I keep wanting to give this game the benefit of the doubt, but judging by all the information released so far I can't help but feel that this game IS NOT what true Star Trek fans were hoping for in an MMO.

I just love it when they do a featurette about sound in a game and then absolutely butchers the sound in the trailer, so you can't even understand it. Way to look stupid, guys.
