The new "Tiberium Harvesting" trailer for EA Los Angeles' Command and Conquer 4: Tiberium Twilight explains how the gathering of the strategy game's all-purpose resource has changed from previous entries in the series.

In prior Command and Conquer games, players had to farm vast fields of Tiberium using harvesting vehicles in order to develop and expand their bases. Command and Conquer 4 turns Tiberium harvesting on its head via the newly constructed "Tiberium Control Network." The network is ostensibly a resource pipeline constructed in an uncommonly cooperative effort between the Global Defense Initiative (GDI) and series villain Kane's Brotherhood of Nod. As a result, Tiberium no longer threatens the environment, but is still a precious resource that players will have to fight over.

When Command and Conquer 4: Tiberium Twilight hits the PC on March 16, players will need to gather Tiberium crystals from various drop-points across each map, and cart them back to home base. Transporting Tiberium can still be a tricky proposition though, as detonating a crystal will cause a devastating ion storm that lays waste to the units caught inside. "Detonate at your own risk."
